The Effect of SMS Reminder on Pregnant Mother Behaviour in Consuming Iron Tablet in Sigi District, Central Sulawesi

This study aims to assess the effect of SMS (Short Message Service) reminder on pregnant mother behaviour in consuming iron tablet.
The research used a quasi-experimental design with the nonequivalent control group design. The population included 238 mothers having the second trimester pregnancy in Sigi District. The sampels (106) were grouped into the treatment group (54) and the control group (52). The data were analysed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test, Mann Whitney, Hotellings T2 and Manova.
The results showed that there were differences in knowledge, attitude and practice of the pregnant mother in consuming iron tablets before and after application of SMS reminder in the treatment group. There were no differences in knowledge, attitude, motivation, and action between the groups before the intervention, while after the intervention there differences in knowledge, attitude, motivation, and action between the groups. There was a comparison of the differences in knowledge, attitude, and practice of the pregnant mothers in consuming iron tablets, but not in terms of motivation. Simultaneous analysis on both group before the intervention showed no differences in knowledge, attitude, motivation, and action of the pregnant mothers, but there were differences in the four variables after the intervention.
